Sarah - Vienna

Vienna was an amazing city! The beautiful old architecture and overall culture were truly fun to experience. Vienna was slightly more laid back than Prague which was a nice change of pace at the time. Our hostel in Vienna was also a short subway ride away from Vienna's city center which made exploring and enjoying the city extremely easy. There was also a small market just a few steps away from our hostel. In this marketplace, there were plenty of salespeople who were very insistent on having people try their free samples. I will never forget the time when one guy told me that I had dropped something on the ground just so that I would have to stop and try some of his free samples.

My favorite performance that we attended in Vienna was the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. During this performance, we got to hear Prokofiev's first symphony, Maurice Ravel's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, and Sibelius's fifth symphony. This was my first time hearing Prokofiev's first symphony in person and it truly blew me away. I did not think that I was going to be so moved by it but it was a truly powerful performance. Sibelius's fifth symphony was a great way to end an already fantastic concert. In conclusion, Vienna was a truly wonderful place to both hear some fantastic music and explore!
