Lillian in Leipzig

Leipzig was fantastic. The four days we were there were hardly enough, and each day was jam packed. Each concert we experienced while in the city was absolutely amazing. Hearing the Gewandhaus orchestra was so exciting, I don't think blinked once. The concert master had so much energy and was very fun to watch. The next night we went to the Rachmaninoff ballet which honestly felt a little life changing. The first act was impressive but I had a very hard time staying awake. However, the second act was absolutely incredible. The choreography and the lighting design was an interesting and perfect depiction of the music and it brought me to tears several times. The organ demonstration from Johannes was very nice however Parker being invited to play Bach's organ was incredible. The joy that instilled in me is indescribable and has made my heart so happy just thinking about it.

The Mendelssohn museum was a personal favorite of mine as it was very interactive. The bottom floor had a program in which you could conduct a few different pieces. A group of us spent about an hour in just that room. The second floor had one of the most beautiful pianos I have ever seen and many different facts about the Mendelssohn's compositional life. The final floor was dedicated to Fanny Mendelssohn and had a very fun "dress up" room in which many members of the group enjoyed.
