Leipzig Blog Post

We arrived in Leipzig on Friday, January 13th, settling into our best hostel of the two so far. The room was spacious; the beds were big, and we had nightstands as well. There was room to move about the room, featuring a table with four seats.
Probably the most interesting performance was the ballets set to the 2nd and 3rd Rachmaninov piano concertos. The music was astounding, not to mention the dancers. The lighting design for the ballets were absolutely stunning- one light came down to follow a dancer- sort of an up close and moving spotlight, so that the only part of the stage that was illuminated was the dancer's body. The light spun around the dancer in a circular fashion as they danced.
The second most interesting piece was played the first night, with the Brahmes symphony. It was a sort of atonal and free piece. The conductor gave very little sense of rythmn, as the piece appeared to have a free meter.
