Salzburg has easily been my favorite city. It could be its highly connected roots to Sound of Music but in all honestly its just been intensely fun to walk around and explore. The city is very walkable and overall absolutely beautiful. There are two aspects of Salzburg that have blown me away. The first taking the Untersbergbahn (a gondola) to a very high viewpoint overlooking all of Salzburg and some of the alps. This experience was heavenly especially since I had no idea what to expect. After sliding down as hiking up some hills I arrived to the top view point which was nothing short of beautiful. I am very glad I went along for the ride, I enjoyed this experience heavily.
The last day spent in Salzburg was slow and relaxing, a perfect way to end the trip. After listening to objectively the best concert in Salzburg that the group saw, a group of us took our time eating at a café. Afterwards we walked through the Mirabellgarten to see the small arboretum with birds and turtles.
Afterwards the group split up a bit and LeighAnna, Henry and I went in search of the Abbey. After following a windy street and climbing stairs we found the entrance and to our surprise it was open! We walked into a dark chapel, with only few candles providing light. Suddenly we heard a faint collection of voices singing. This was truly magical and we sat in the pews for around five to ten minutes soaking it all in. Seeing the abbey used in Sound of Music was one of my goals here in Salzburg and I am ecstatic that I was able to see it today.
It was very special to be in Salzburg and I am greatly hoping that this will not be my last time in this beautiful city.
