We arrived in the gorgeous city of Salzburg during the last week of January. One of the main purposes of this being our last stop was that it was also Mozart's birthday celebration!
Our first night in Salzburg was spent at the Mozart Aria dinner. This was a very upscale event but it was filled with live entertainment and delicious food. The next day we were given a tour around the city by Gabi, and then had another tour up at the Hohensalzburg fortress. In the evening, we attended a delightful performance of the Vienna Philharmonic.
The next morning, we went to a Mass service at the church by our hotel and then spent the afternoon in the Alpes. It was freezing, however the views were amazing! Afterwards, we were free to shop around town and explore the city on our own.
The next day we went to the Mozart museum that was originally his birthplace as well. It was interesting to see the exhibits that contained his sheet music and to also learn more about his family history. When we were free in the afternoon, I went with some of my classmates around town to the souvenir shops and had a delicious lunch at Spagetti & Co. I was also lucky enough to visit some of the locations where the Sound of Music was filmed!! In the evening, we attended a lovely performance of the Camarata Salzburg orchestra.
We had more free time the following day, so I spent the morning in my hotel room to get some extra rest before going out in the afternoon. We attended a short performance of the Hagen Quartet and then we had the evening free to grab dinner and relax at our hotel.
On our last day, we saw a performance from the Mozarteum orchestra and then had our final group dinner at Die Wiesse. The meal was delicious and I was grateful to be in the company of my classmates that I have made many memories with!
Tomorrow we travel to Munich, where we will board a plane and finally return back to our home state. It has been an amazing trip, and we are all excited to share our stories with our family and friends!
