Very Visually Vibrant Vienna - Ben Helgeson

If I’m being honest, I am writing this about a week after leaving Vienna so I don’t remember many details. I don’t even think I remembered to pick up a rock while I was there.

I do remember generally how it was though so this will be a short blog. Out of all the cities, I think Vienna had the biggest emphasis on ornamentation. Their buildings, their music, their paintings, all of Vienna had incredible detail down to the last millimeter. One painting I particularly enjoyed at a museum I visited depicted the Tower of Babel which shows this theme very well.

Out of all the shows we saw, my favorite was Don Giovanni. The story was intriguing and it was easy to get pulled into how terrible a person this guy was. Mozart was definitely a talented Opera writer. We also were greeted with one of the weirdest curtains I’ve ever seen in an opera house.
