If I’m being honest, I am writing this about a week after leaving Vienna so I don’t remember many details. I don’t even think I remembered to pick up a rock while I was there.
I do remember generally how it was though so this will be a short blog. Out of all the cities, I think Vienna had the biggest emphasis on ornamentation. Their buildings, their music, their paintings, all of Vienna had incredible detail down to the last millimeter. One painting I particularly enjoyed at a museum I visited depicted the Tower of Babel which shows this theme very well. The Tower of Babel (Bruegel) |
Out of all the shows we saw, my favorite was Don Giovanni. The story was intriguing and it was easy to get pulled into how terrible a person this guy was. Mozart was definitely a talented Opera writer. We also were greeted with one of the weirdest curtains I’ve ever seen in an opera house.
