Austria Blog Post

We arrived in Austria on Sunday, January 22nd, where we had dinner at the apartment where Beethoven spent a summer in after his doctor's suggestion. We were regaled with a delightful accordion performance. 
On Wednesday the 25th, we toured the Shonbrunn Palace, belonging to the Habsburgs. It was absolutely stunning- there was a room, called the Porcelain Room, that was filled with porcelain objects. Anything that wasn't made from porcelain was painted to look like porcelain- this included all the walls.
On Thursday the 26th, we saw a modern production of Mozart's 'Don Giovanni.' While the costumes and music were stunning, there were some theatrical things that didn't quite work- it seemed like the director was trying to be minimalist and a bit meta, and it didn't sell me.
